Introduction to Metrici Advisor
-
Metrici Advisor supports the Metrici ESQM family of methods.
It provides functions for the definition of assessments, for carrying out assessments online, and for analysing the assessments.
This introduction shows the information held within Metrici Advisor, and some of the main outputs from the report.
You can follow the steps in the tutorial for yourself in Metrici Advisor.

Metrici Advisor is a simple application with menus and forms.
Behind the scenes, Metrici Advisor has powerful repository features to store your data, and powerful analysis and reporting features.
To look at the data, select the link.
-
The things that Metrici Advisor holds data about, such as IT systems, are called "assets".
The explorer lets you browse information about assets.
Use the
and
buttons to open and close the items in the explorer.
The different types of information in the explorer have different icons.

Asset Assets are the things about which Metrici Advisor holds information, such as IT systems. BACS Gateway
Asset group Assets can be arranged in groups (and groups inside groups). Sample systems
Response Assessment of involves asking questions. The questions are called "criteria", and the answers are called "responses". Service level agreement
Response group Responses are collected in groups, which correspond to groups of criteria. System service Navigate to a response, and click on its name.
-
Each response gives the name of the asset ("BACS Gateway" in this example) and the name of the criterion ("Service level agreement").
It gives a description of the criterion, and an indication of why the criterion is significant.
There are two parts to the response.
Response text. This is descriptive text entered during the assessment which describes the situation.Grading. This is selected from a set of multiple choice options. Each grading has a short description which states the situation ("Service levels are defined..."), and a longer description that explains the grading in more detail ("A relevant SLA is in place...").Having two parts to the response is very important. The response text makes the response understandable, and allows the response to the checked. The grading makes it possible to analyse the response.
-
To run a report, use the explorer to navigate to the asset and select a report from the drop-down list, and click on
The Asset Analysis report provides a detailed analysis of an IT system.
-
Reports are put on a queue for processing.
Most reports take a few seconds to process. Some very large analyses make take a few minutes.
Use the link to see if the reports have finished.
When the report is shown as complete, click on the report title to view the report.
-
The asset analysis report shows an overall score and a breakdown by response group.
The green bar shows the score achieved. The red bar the score dropped. Anything not yet answered is shown in grey. The height of the bar shows the relative weight (importance).
-
Next on the report comes a summary of the important recommendations produced from the expert system that analyses the responses.
-
Next on the report are the recommendation details.
Each recommendation has a reference, a priority, details of what has been found, details of what is being recommended, and links to relevant responses.
The recommendations are prioritised:
Very urgent - do nowUrgent - do firstNormal - requires planned actionLow priority - required considerationFor information only -
The body of the report contains the details of each response.
The score and the weight of the question are shown.
Both the response text and the grading are shown.
When you have finished looking at the report, use the Return to report list link at the top of the report.
-
To run a report across a group of assets, use the explorer to navigate to an asset group and select a report from the drop-down list.
The Asset Group Analysis report analyses each asset in the groups and produces a summary report.
-
The group analysis report starts with a summary line for each asset, and a summary of the priority 1 and priority 2 recommendations.
-
The body of the group analysis report shows an overview of each system.
-
Reports are saved on the system for seven days. You can delete them earlier.
Select the and click on .
