Metrici Advisor Features
-
Metrici Advisor provides features to define, carry out and analyse assessments.
This tutorial provides a quick tour of these features.
-
Metrici Advisor is a easy-to-use form-based application. The home page contains quick links to all the main data, report and tasks.
-
The comprehensive help and support system provides guidance for every page.
-
The explorer lets you find, update and manage your information quickly.
-
An on-line questionnaire guides you through the assessment.
The form asks detailed questions.
-
The assessment form also grades each answer.
Having both free-text answers and grades makes the assessment understandable, defendable, and a good basis for analysis.
-
The things assessed within Metrici Advisor, such as IT systems, are called assets.
You can change the template (list of questions) against which an assessed is assessed. The system automatically identifies any impacts that this might have on your existing answers.
-
Metrici Advisor's powerful reporting sub-system carries out extracts, analysis and report formatting.
Reporting takes place in the background so that you can carry on with your work while analysis is taking place.
The report list shows all the reports that you have requested.
Reports are saved automatically, typically for seven days. This makes it easy to review your analyses and reports online, and only printout out or download the ones you want.
-
The analyses use a weighting and scoring system.
Score achieved is shown in green.
Score dropped is shown in red.
Unknown is shown in grey.
The height of the lines shows relative importance. The area of green, red and grey therefore shows the relative importance of what is scored, dropped or not known.
This example shows the scores for groups of questions.
The Systems development group has the lowest score, but the problems with the System use group are more important because they have a greater weighting.
-
Metrici Advisor uses an expert system to generate recommendations.
Recommendations have priorities, detailed accounts of what has been found, detailed recommendations, and links back to the answers that triggered the recommendations.
-
Group analysis highlights the systems and management areas that have issues.
Group analysis is sophisticated. It creates effective summaries across assets, even when these assets are documented against different templates. The analysis calculates the relative importance of different systems, and weights the results accordingly.
-
Assessment data and analysis results can be exported to spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel.
-
Each template is made up of many separate criteria. Each criterion represents a single aspect of management.
Criteria can be arranged in groups, to make them easier for the assessment user to navigate.
Criteria and criterion groups can be reused in different templates.
You can customise the standard templates to meet the needs of your organisation.
-
Each criterion is carefully defined.
It has a description.
It has an indication of why it is significant to the organisation, which ties the criterion back to high-level objectives.
It has a carefully worded question.
-
Each criterion has a list of grades which represent different types of answers that can be given.
Each criterion has answer criteria , which are used to check that the question has been properly answered and that the grading is reasonable. This is important for making the assessment process rigorous and repeatable.
-
All parts of the criterion definition are maintained online.
-
Criterion properties add extra information to criteria, such as:
Formatting, such as the number of lines of text expected for an answer.Extra information used by the analysis and reporting system, such as cross-references.Rules for the expert system.Custom reports. Metrici Advisor provides a library of standard analyses, reports and extracts that can be further customised. In this example, a property is being used to define a rule about IT ownership and responsibilities.
-
There are comprehensive features for managing criteria and templates, including version control, permissions management, and reports to help with the criterion definition process.
-
Use Metrici Advisor's permissions to share your work securely with your colleagues.
The permissions are very flexible. You can grant permissions over an entire asset to all your colleagues, or set separate read and update permissions on individual questions.
-
User groups simplify permissions by letting you set up groups for your colleagues.
-
Licensing information keeps you in control of the licenses you have bought.
-
This is the end of the Metrici Advisor Features tour.
