Background

Michel Godet Management Consulting (MGMC) is an independent consultancy specialising in risk management, compliance, assurance protection strategy and information security.

Part of Michel's business involves introducing US-based standards, such as the National Security Agency's (NSA) Information Assurance Methodology (IAM) and Information Evaluation Methodology (IEM) to the European market.

Michel approached Metrici because he saw an opportunity to combine Metrici's system quality management ideas with international and US-based standards for IT governance and information security, to create a new and compelling customer proposition.

Working with Metrici

To take the idea forward, Michel worked closely with Metrici to develop a series of assessment templates that cover the major IT governance and information security standards, including COBIT, FISMA, GPRA, NIST, DiD, PCI and ISO 2700x standards. Rather than develop separate templates for each, the work focused on the development of core templates, with views that support each of the different standards. This allows users of the template to carry out one set of assessments to meet the requirements of multiple standards.

Metrici supported Michel closely with the work, developing at no cost additional features to support views and to support advanced analysis that consolidates the results of multiple assessments into a single management view.

Metrici also supported Michel by providing evaluation licenses for Metrici Advisor to about 60 of Michel's customers and contacts, including many major organisations across Europe, leading IT service providers, and specialist consultancies. Michel is now progressing sales in many of these organisations.

Although the Metrici Advisor service is highly secure, regulations for PCI assessment require that assessment data is not held on a system connected to the Internet. To support this requirement, Metrici is developing a version of the Metrici Advisor software for installation at customer sites. This will be shipped as a packaged product complete with the templates developed by MGMC.

There is a great deal of interest in this new product across Europe and North America. Michel Godet and Metrici are marketing the product jointly, both as a part of their consultancy businesses and as a standalone product.

In summary

By working with Metrici, Michel Godet has created innovative products that are unique in the marketplace, with advanced features not available in competing products. As well as being a product in its own right, these products have created significant new opportunities for Michel Godet's consulting business.

The joint working has extended much further than just technology, and has encompassed joint marketing and pre-sales support.
